“It’s one thing to make a picture of what a person looks like, it’s another thing to make a portrait of who they are.”
— Paul Caponigro
Headshots are the focus of my photography practice. As an actor and director in film and theatre myself I am keenly aware of a performer’s need for a good headshot and I have good sense of what the industry standards and trends are for headshots.
But headshots aren’t just for performers and artists, people in all types of work can use headshots to promote their work and connect with customers, clients and/or other people in their industry. With online job searches and most business having a web presence a headshot is an important tool for everyone!
I approach my headshot sessions like much of my other work, with a desire to capture my clients as relaxed and most like themselves as possible.
For some, headshots can feel a little more daunting than a typical portrait session because all shots are taken looking straight into camera, because making a connection with the person looking at the image is the main job of a headshot. My job is to make you feel as comfortable as possible while capturing the best side of your for your headshots!
My headshot sessions have outdoor and indoor options. During the colder months and on rainy days I shoot in well-lit indoor locations, like the Central Library in downtown Halifax. During the summer and fall on nicer days I have outdoor sessions as an option for your shoot.
