Individual Portraiture

It's your time to shine!

You may be wondering, what’s the difference between a portrait and a headshot? In general, headshots are a professional tool while portraits are usually more for decoration or aesthetic purposes. I talk a little more about that in my FAQ section, so let’s talk about how my portraiture sessions work! Portrait sessions are much more fluid and open compared to headshot sessions. Want an alternative to your school photo? A celebratory graduation session? Or more candid shots for your performer/business website? All of these situations and more can benefit from a portrait session.

On your shoot day we’ll meet in a location that’s important to you, go for a walk and take a variety of different images that capture your personality best. Not all the shots need to have you looking right into the camera, some may be more candid.

To help capture those more free moments I often use prompts to give you something interesting to think about or a memory to focus on that will bring out different emotions and reactions.

They could be anything from having you tell me a personal story to doing a silly walk. My job is to make you feel as relaxed and comfortable as possible so we can capture the essence of you in a photograph!

Generally, I prefer to shoot portrait sessions outdoors to allow for more spaces to interact with during our shoot but if you’re looking to do a session in the winter and don’t want to brave the cold let me know and I can see what indoor options I have available.

I also now offer dog portrait and equine portrait sessions for those with animals friends they’d like to have a session with!

If you’re looking for a headshot session rather than a portrait session you can find that information here for adults and here for kids, and here for business!
